Ludhiana, February 22
The department of dermatology at DMCH here has introduced latest technique of hair transplant for the benefit of those suffering from hair loss or baldness caused due to different factors.

Amrit Nagpal, Gian Chand Dhawan, both vice presidents, and Prem Kumar Gupta, secretary of DMCH managing society, formally inaugurated the facility.

Focusing on the new technique of hair transplant, Dr Alka Dogra, professor and head of the department of dermatology, said this procedure was advancement over conventional strip technique. This method was better as it involved no sutures, no visible scarring in the donor area and the results were perfectly natural.

Dr Aman Dua, assistant professor in dermatology, said the technique for hair transplantation was the only permanent and natural way of hair restoration in male pattern baldness. The technique was equally effective in females and eyebrow hair loss due to trauma or burns.

Depending on the area to be treated, the number of sittings were calculated and planned. The surgery involved multiple sittings, each lasting around 6-8 hours. The procedure was carried out under local anesthesia with the patient remaining awake throughout.
The full results were seen after 6- 8 months when the re-growth occurred.
