When can I start using hair care products?

Que: It’s almost two months since my hair transplant procedure and I would really like to know whether I can use natural oils such as almond and castor? I would like to start using such products because they are known to promote natural hair growth and I would rather use these than medications such as Minoxidil. Ans: Your doctor would be the best person to advice you about the same and you should ask them whether you can start using these oils. However, you need to understand that oils such as almond and castor will not promote hair growth; only […]

How expensive will the procedure be?

Que: I would like to know how much a single graft will cause, because that will allow me to have a fair idea of how much the entire process will cost me. Ans: The costs will depend on a range of factors, including the experience of the surgeon, the techniques he or she will be using and the actual availability of the grafts. In the Indian subcontinent, a single graft could cost anywhere between one US dollar to two. However, in such procedures, taking into account the experience of the surgeon and the facilities of the clinic or hospital should take […]

Is there normally a lot of itching post an FUE procedure?

Que:  Around two weeks after my FUE procedure, I woke up one day with a really bad itch, around the back of the head, close to where my recipient area was. When I looked in the mirror I saw, 3 small reddish pimples like bumps, which were the cause of the itch. While there was no blood, I could not help myself constantly itch at the location, but I made sure that I did the same with a light hand. A few grafts also fell out during the process and that has me a little worried. Ans: There is nothing […]

I am not seeing the kind of results from FUE

Que: I had an FUE almost a year back, and although things looked okay initially, after about 11 months, my hair started falling out at a drastic pace. After the procedure I had taken only a daily dose of evening primrose oil, because both Propecia and Finasteride were showing negative side effects. My doctor has suggested that I go for another FUE, because that will give me the desired density of hair. Please advice on what my next step should be. Ans: There could be several reasons that lead to the falling of hair and the FUE not being a […]

I am considering a hair transplant

Que: I have been facing hair loss for the past few months and am considering a hair transplant. However, I want to know whether I will be able to style my hair in a manner that I like or will my transplant be obvious. Ans: If you have a sufficient number of grafts and the transplant has been completed in a proper manner, there is no reason why you will not be able to style your hair, the way you like. In most cases, transplanted hair grows just like natural hair, and once the hair has reached a certain length, […]

I have hair loss and have been using topical

Que: I have been noticing some hair loss since the past few weeks, and since the past 2 months, I started using Finasteride, because Minoxidil tends to irritate my scalp. I would like to know whether I would be a good enough candidate for hair transplant. Ans: The answer to this question can be given only after a thorough examination of your hair and scalp. We would have to look at aspects such as your age, the progression of hair loss, family and medical history and so on. However, our first line of management is almost always medical, because a […]
